Release notes
Current release: 1.0.5 — Windows installer and Linux AppImage.
A seat on an earlier version is offered the current one from Help -> Check for Updates
inside Takshak. Every release is a full build; installing it over the previous one keeps your
tool library, machines, posts and preferences.
1.0.5 — September 15, 2026
3-axis
- Rest machining on 3D Pocket Clearing and Adaptive Clearing. A second, smaller cutter clears only what the previous operation left behind.
- Helical entry. The pitch follows the ramp angle, the orbit turns with the cut direction, and the helix starts from the level above the one being cut. The Helical pitch setting is live only when the entry is helical.
- Spiral clearing. Pocket, Sloped Pocket, 3D Pocket Clearing and the coarse levels of Ramp Pocket clear each ring as one continuous spiral instead of stitched passes.
- Sloped Pocket starts from the feature's own floor by default.
- Facing. Cut direction (climb or conventional) is honoured as a one-way sweep, the sweep angle is a setting, and the operation closes with a lap of the perimeter.
- Pencil. Flat and bull-nose cutters seat correctly in every corner and the cutter body is checked along every seam, so no pencil pass links through material.
- Underside geometry. Feature recognition no longer lists geometry on the underside of the part as reachable from above, and Pencil skips the wedges beneath it.
- Drilling. A hole drilled in exactly two pecks posts as a G83 cycle when canned cycles are on; it was written out move by move.
Setup and the feature list
- The work coordinate marker follows its stock marker.
- The blocked-feature filter measures the part again after the part is replaced.
- Hovering a feature, group or section lights its faces in the viewport; nothing stays lit after an operation is added.
Preferences and export
- Default machine. Preferences lists your machines by name; the row was empty before, whatever was saved under Posts & Machines.
- The export dialog's feed-mode row reads "G94 (units/min)".
Manual and text
- The helical entry description is updated in the manual in all seven languages.
1.0.4 — September 9, 2026
Rotary (4th-axis) feature recognition and operations
- Threads. Feature recognition now finds external threads on turned parts and keeps them out of OD clearing. A new Thread operation cuts the recognised thread with an on-axis form cutter.
- Thread form cutters. Five form cutters join the standard tool library (Acme 29°, trapezoidal 30° and Whitworth 55° profiles), bringing it to 151 tools. An existing library receives them through the tool library's standard-tools top-up.
- Fillets, chamfers and tapers on turned parts are recognised automatically and listed with their operations, not only through a manual pick.
- Axial bores. A blind bore along the axis is listed under holes with its diameter and depth. A recess that sits over a bore is cleared down to the bore wall and no further.
- Flat recess floors. A recess with a flat floor is cleared to the floor's corners and never below it. The operation carries a notice when a true flat finish needs an indexed 3-axis pocket.
- Cross holes through a hollow section. A hole that passes through both walls of a bored bar is now two holes, one per wall, each drilled from its own side, instead of one long hole through the air between them.
- Pocket clearing links. On L-shaped and other non-convex recesses the moves between passes stay inside the recess.
- Speed. Feature recognition on threaded parts is about thirty times faster, and pocket and slot picks in the user-defined operation work on such parts.
Indexed (3+1) work
- Indexed contexts are strictly 3-axis. The rotary Slot Clear operation is no longer offered on an indexed part; a through-wall slot at an index is set up as a user-defined operation. The THROUGH SLOTS section of the feature list is gone.
3-axis
- Open-ended pockets. Pocket clearing sweeps outward past an open edge only where that edge opens to air. Where the channel continues between side walls, the passes stay inside the walls. The outer pass is complete again on pockets whose first pass starts mid-edge.
Manual and text
- The Thread operation has its card in the manual in all seven languages; the fillet and chamfer cards say what feature recognition now does on its own.
- Licence dialogs say "computer" where they said "machine"; one French feature name corrected (bossage).
1.0.3 — September 4, 2026
- Launch release. Windows installer with a language choice at install time and a signed
uninstaller; Linux AppImage for Ubuntu 22.04 and newer (needs
libgl1andlibegl1from the distribution).
